"Who are you?"
Mixed media sculpture.
For a big part of our life, starting from teenage years and often well into the middle age, we are driven by other people’s expectations. Until comes the time when we feel the urge to look inwards and to get to know ourselves. The time when we look at our own reflection in the mirror and ask: who are you? What are your own likes and dislikes? Which voices in your head are yours, and which ones are not? This is the transition that I wanted to capture when making this sculpture.
Materials: linen and cotton fabric, wadding, wire, cardboard, vintage embroidery thread, clay, watercolour paint, varnish.
Size: Height - 51 cm, width - 44 cm, depth - 20 cm.
